Our story
The Wedding DJ was founded by Steven Heyns, Brendon Funnell and John Roux in April 2009 on the principles of great music, world class service and utmost reliability. We are not Club DJs, and are well aware that your wedding is very different to any corporate event, birthday party or nightclub. It is at heart a celebration, but it needs to be conducted with the kind of professionalism, expertise and finesse that only years of actual wedding DJ experience can provide for.
We specialise in wedding celebrations and offer a fully comprehensive professional sound and DJ solution. Our DJs are mature, and have experienced first-hand how difficult it is to choose quality suppliers who you feel comfortable with, and trust will exceed all the expectations of your wedding celebration.
We will travel throughout KZN, including Nottingham Road in the Midlands, up the North Coast to Hluhluwe and even Pongola. We have also played in Johannesburg, Cape Town and even the Free State.

Your wedding celebration will be like no other, and deserves a great soundtrack. Therefore, at The Wedding DJ , we work around the music taste of our bridal couples and their guests. We don't work off set playlists as each wedding is different.
SERVICES WE OFFER
WEDDING CEREMONY
The Wedding DJ can supply PA Systems in forests, on beaches, open fields or any location of your choice even if there’s no plug points around. We have invested in battery based power supplies which can run our high end PA equipment at wedding ceremonies for up to 3 hours. We provide the following for wedding ceremonies;
WHAT'S INCLUDED
• Music of your choice for your processional, recessional etc.
• Cordless lapel / lavalier microphone for your marriage officer and a cordless handheld microphone for readings / vows etc if required
PRE-DRINKS
We use a separate PA system to entertain guests with background music while the bridal party is off on the creative shoot.
We create the perfect mood for pre-drinks with great upbeat acoustic tunes.
PHOTO BOOTH
Let us entertain your guests with our photo booth. The Photo booth prints make a great wedding favour as well
WEDDING RECEPTION
Our most popular DJs all have more than 15 years experience as wedding DJs, and have played at all the popular wedding venues in KZN. We are well known for full dance floors and playing only the best pop tunes.
We specialise in young and fun wedding celebrations, but given our vast experience we can confidently cater for a wide variety of music styles including;
• Commercial pop and dance
• Rock / Indie / Alternative Rock
• Traditional: African / Greek / Indian / Portuguese.
If it’s popular and people love it, we will play it.
LOAD SHEDDING
We are geared up for load shedding and can run our main PA system for up to 3 hours without electricity.
FACILITIES FOR LIVE BANDS
Our DJs have vast experience working with professional live musicians at wedding ceremonies. They just have to bring their own instruments and plug into our PA System. Please let us know of your band's exact requirements so we can quote accordingly.
