Ramblers Club
Description
Ramblers Club is one of the most historic buildings in Bloemfontein. As the oldest sports club and former military hospital in the Free State. The main building was erected in 1896 and later extended in 1903. Founded by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, a military doctor.
The Venue - The main hall is ideal for weddings, corporate events and private functions. Crystal chandeliers, high, detailed ceilings and the original carpentry finishing makes the space an elegant and sophisticated venue.
The Foyer – Welcoming guests into the main building we have created a separate space. Inspired by the original club décor, dark wood furniture and gold details make this lounge and bar area perfect for intimate private and corporate events.
The Lawn – The Ramblers lawn has hosted numerous historic sporting events. In 1891 South Africa played cricket against Australia on that very field and in 1903 the club hosted a soccer match between Corinthians and O.R.C.
