Description
The par 72, 18-hole championship golf course has been rated among the top 30 courses in the country. It is not surprising when you see the picturesque fairways curving away between the majestic camel thorn trees, many of which are centuries old. Sishen golf course is a parkland design golf course.
The course is well bunkered, absolutely laden with the stunning Camel Thorn trees and even manages to bring water into play on three of the holes. Sishen enjoys magnificent views of the surrounding areas and due to its location an uncongested course. Nine times out of ten visitors can show up and get a game. Sishen was the final work of the late Bob Grimsdell, and the club has paid homage to his name by running an excellent facility.
The course, in an area that battles with water, is regarded with affection by many of the professionals golfers in South Africa and various rating bodies and is truly one of the hidden golfing gems in Southern Africa.
The fairway and tee boxes at Sishen Golf Club is Cynodon ( Cynodon dactylon ) and the newly seeded greens is a bend mix of Penn A1-A4 bentgrass and Benal grass ( foxtail millet , Setaria italica , or Panicum italicum ) The course is approxamity 6657 metres long from the yellow tee’s. There is 4 tee’s on every hole ; yellow , white , blue and red. The blue and red tee’s is mainly for the ladies.
The course is gently undulating terrain and is easy to walk.
